about

A collaboration with singer-songwriter Jon Patrick Penick, feat. Frances Luke Accord. Jon and I wrote this song summer 2020 as I was healing from covid and a breakup in the sweltering Chicago July heat and Jon was healing from a breakup too, mowing laws in sunny Florida.

lyrics

lawn takes it out of ya
sun sups my cup
smiles you used to send to me
still fuck me up

i’ll sweat you out of me
when the tears can’t shake it
how did I get used to you
why didn’t we make it

sun kissed and grass grown
we’re in quite the pickle
listen here and listen up
it’s been months of swill
i'm so sick

and still

i yearn for me to grow up
how do you grow up?
how did I grow into this

gotta get the good out of my head
how good we were in bed
what good it ever did

the words I told myself you said
